Dive! Food Rescue Missions

Every week, our volunteers partner with grocery stores throughout our community to salvage the food they are discarding and get it to food banks and families in need. We have over ninety volunteers who pick up food donations from several different grocery stores and deliver them to food banks in the Adams County area. The DIVE! program continues to grow year after year with added locations and committed volunteers.
Our current schedule includes three pick-ups on Saturdays in the Thornton/Henderson area and Westminster/Northglenn area, two pick-ups on Monday mornings in the Thornton/Henderson area and Westminster area, one pick-up on Wednesday mornings in the Westminster area, and one pick-up on Thursday mornings in the Thornton/Henderson area.
We currently partner with Food Bank of the Rockies, King Soopers, Whole Foods, Henderson Community Church, Good Shepherd Food Bank, and Growing Home.
SEVENS Meals For the Food Insecure

On the second Thursday of each month, volunteers from The Journey Community Care Center, in collaboration with other community partners, prepare, serve, and clean up a meal for the homeless community of Adams County. We meet at Westminster Presbyterian Church (3990 W. 74th Ave., Westminster, 80030) at 5:15 pm and begin serving the community at 5:30 pm. We welcome you to come and help serve the meal!
We are currently working with Thornton’s Homelessness Outreach Team (HOT) for possible future meals in the area. Stay tuned for more information!
Sleeping Bags and Cold Weather Drive

At the start of every year, TJCCC collects sleeping bags, oversized coats, mylar blankets, packages of new socks, gloves, and other warm items to provide to the homeless community in Adams County as the winter months progress. We’ll collect items and donate at various events (such as SEVENS), and partner with local organizations to provide the items to those in need.
Clothing Drive

Typically, one time every year (the timing depends on community need), TJCCC holds a clothing drive and collects new or gently used clothes and shoes for all genders, ages, and sizes! The donations are then provided to shelters and organizations in our community so that those in need can access clothing they might not otherwise be able to afford or obtain.
Rice Bowls

Each year leading up to and during the Easter season, TJCCC hands out small piggy banks in the shape of rice bowls. These rice bowls are taken out into the community and filled with change and bills. One hundred percent of the money donated is then provided to orphans affected by the AIDS crisis in Africa. In 2024, the community gathered $640.39 to this cause!
School Supply Drive

Each July, TJCCC holds a school supply drive to collect backpacks and supplies for students of all ages and fields of study. The supplies are then donated to families in need who cannot afford them. In 2024, we partnered with Joyful Journeys to distribute donated items and collected well over 140 lbs of supplies (filling more than a large garbage bin!).
Diaper and Formula Drive

In October each year, TJCCC holds a drive to collect diapers of all sizes, baby food, and baby formula. The donations are then provided to one of our partner organizations, Growing Home, in Westminster. Growing Home supports families who are experiencing homelessness or need additional support who are often unable to provide the most basic of needs to their new children. We collect diapers of all sizes!
Adopt a Family for Christmas!

TJCCC adopts several low-income families each holiday season. These families often have students participating in a free and reduced-price lunch program. TJCCC supports each family by providing Christmas gifts for each family member (children and adults). We provide an entire Christmas meal, gift cards for the purchase of groceries, and gifts for the whole family.
Blessing Bags

Blessing Bags are distributed throughout various times of the year. These bags contain basic items like toiletries, socks, snacks, etc. Blessing Bags are handed out at SEVENS and other community events that primarily serve people experiencing homelessness (PEH).
